La Nippon Foundation és una organització filantròpica sense ànim de lucre creada l’any 1962, activa al mateix temps al Japó i a l’estranger. Treballa en el camp de l’educació, la salut pública i el benestar social. El seu fundador és el senyor Ryoichi Sasakawa (1899-1995). L’actual president és el senyor Yohei Sasakawa.
A través de la gestió del Servei Lingüístic de la UIB ha fet donació gratuïta, en el marc del Projecte llibre (Book Project), del conjunt de «100 llibres per entendre el Japó contemporani».
Tots els llibres són en llengua anglesa i abracen una gran amplitud de temes, des de la literatura i les arts (26 llibres), a l’economia (19), la història (18), la política i les relacions internacionals (22), o la societat i cultura (15), entre altres disciplines, i permeten tenir a l’abast un fons bibliogràfic per als estudiosos i interessats a conèixer el Japó contemporani i el seu desenvolupament sociocultural, històric i econòmic.
The Nippon Foundation was established in 1962 as a non-profit, philanthropic organization, active both in Japan and abroad. It is dedicated to the fields of education, public health and social welfare. Its founder is Mr. Ryoichi Sasakawa (1899-1995). The current president is Mr. Yohei Sasakawa.
Through its Language Service, the UIB has freely donated, within the framework of the Book Project, of a set of «100 books for Understanding Contemporary Japan».
All the books are in English and cover a wide range of topics, from literature and the arts (26 books), to economics (19), history (18), politics and international relations (22), or society and culture (15), among other disciplines, thus making library resources available to all those who are interested in finding out about contemporary Japan and its sociocultural, historical and economic development.
日本財団は日本国内及び海外において社会福祉・教育・文化などの分野を中心に慈善事業を行う無利益財団として１９６２年に設立された。設立者は故笹川良一氏（１８９９−１９９５）、現会長は笹川陽平氏である。
バレアレス諸島州立大学言語サービス部の一連の手続きを通して、「近現代日本を知る１００冊の本」という書籍寄贈事業の下、今回の恩恵を享受することができた。
全ての書籍は英文であり、多種多様な分野を網羅する。その内訳は、文学と美術（２６冊）、経済（１９冊）、歴史（１８冊）、政治と国際関係（２２冊）、社会と文化（１５冊）等が含まれる。これらの書籍は、研究者や興味を抱く一般人に対し、社会文化、経済あるいは歴史など現近代における日本の発展を知る上で書かせない文献になるであろう。
