Soc professor titular del Departament de Filosofia (àrea de lògica i Filosofia de la Ciència) de la Universitat de les Illes Balears (impartesc les assignatures de Filosofia del Llenguatge, Filosofia de la Biologia i Filosofia de la Tecnologia (Màster)). Llicenciat en Filosofia, especialitat de Lògica i Filosofia de la ciència, i Doctor en Filosofia per l’Euskal Herriko Unibersitatea (Universitat del Pais Basc; UPV/EHU) (2003) amb una tesi sobre l’estudi pragmàtic de les representacions de teories científiques, vaig realitzar la meva investigació i docència postdoctorals a Colorado School of mines (2004-2007), a la University of Colorado at Boulder (2004-2006) i a la Universiteit Twente (2007). He impartit classes d’ètica de l’enginyeria a l’esmentada escola de mines, d’antropologia filosòfica la Universitat del Pais Basc, de filosofia de la ment i del significat a la Universdad de Valladolid i de filosofia de la tecnologia a la Universidad de la República del Uruguay. Entre d’altres línies d’investigació, a l’actualitat m’ocup de l’estudi filosòfic sobre el treball amb models en ciències naturals i del llenguatge, dels mecanismes que subjauen a les explicacions i prediccions científiques, i dels valors epistèmics i no-espistèmics involucrats a les diverses activitats cognoscitives científiques.

I am Senior Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy (area of Logic and Philosophy of Science) at the University of the Balearic Islands (where I teach courses on Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Biology and Philosphy of Technology (Master)). I have got a Bachelor degree in Philosophy, Logic and Philosophy of Science, and a Ph.D. in Philosphy at the Euskal Herriko Unibersitatea (University of Basque Country; UPV/EHU) (2003) with a dissertation on the pragmatics and representationalism of scientific theories. I have taught and developed my postdoctoral research at the Colorado School of mines (2004-2007), at the University of Colorado at Boulder (2004-2006) and at the Universiteit Twente (2007). My teaching experience has especially been about engineering and ethics (at the mentioned School of Mines), on philosophical anthropology at the University of Basque Country, on philosophy of mind and meaning at the Universidad de Valladolid, and on philosophy of technology at the Universidad de la República del Uruguay. Among the several lines of my current research, I am developing a philosophical analysis of models in natural and language sciences, studying the mechanisms that underlie scientific explanations and predictions, and working around the epistemic and non-epistemic values involved in several cognitive activities.
